10th Prague–Weizmann Summer School on drug discovery and development

10th Prague–Weizmann Summer School – Drug Discovery and Development from Basic Research to Clinical Trials is organized by IOCB Prague, the University of Chemistry and Technology, Prague, and the Weizmann Institute of Science, Rehovot.

The Summer School gives a broad overview on the advances in the drug discovery process, from primary research to the production process development.

Expert speakers from major international pharma and biotech companies as well as from academia will cover, among others, these areas:

  • Target discovery
  • Structure- and in silico-based drug design
  • Medicinal chemistry
  • Lead structure characterization
  • Preclinical and clinical development
  • Principles and examples of commercial drugs development cycle
  • Intelectual property rights and patent law

The Summer school is intended mainly for PhD students and postdocs. The attendants are welcome to present their research in the form of poster presentations.

Keynote speakers

  • Peter H. Seeberger (Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces, Potsdam / Freie Universität, Berlin, Germany): Synthetic glycans as basis for vaccines, therapeutic antibodies and diagnostics
  • Stephan Bachmann (F. Hoffmann-La Roche Ltd., Basel, Switzerland): Catalysis as key technology for the synthesis and scale-up of APIs and their intermediates
  • Frank Wagner (Charité, Berlin, Germany): Focus on early clinical trials
