Sabbatical visit program
IOCB Prague invites applications for the IOCB Sabbatical Visit Program from scientists at reputable foreign universities and research institutions.
Financial support is granted based on a joint application submitted by the respective IOCB group leader and the visiting scientist. The length of the visiting scientist's visit can range from six weeks to one year, with the possibility of applying for an extension in exceptional cases. The sabbatical stay may be divided into several shorter periods; however, this arrangement must be explicitly stated and justified in the application. The total length of the stay must be respected.
The institute provides a gross salary of 70,000 CZK per month and covers the obligatory employer contributions to health and social insurance. The salary is subject to income tax, and full health insurance coverage is included as part of the fellowship.
Applications
Interested researchers must contact a respective scientist at IOCB and agree on a research project before submitting their application.
The application must include an outline of the proposed research activities and a letter from the home institution with the approval of study leave, including information on whether the employee will be reimbursed for their stay at the IOCB and, if so, the amount.
Additionally, the application should include the visiting scientist's CV, a list of their publications, and a support letter from the IOCB group leader including a statement of acceptance into the group.
Furthermore, the application must contain an agreement explicitly stating that publications arising from the visiting scientist's activities at the IOCB will bear the institute's address, and that the institute is entitled to a share of the intellectual property created during the visiting scientist's stay.
Applications should be submitted as a single PDF file by the respective IOCB group leader to fellowship@uochb.cas.cz. The submission deadlines are April 1 and October 1 each year. Candidates will be selected by the Selection Committee at its regular semi-annual meetings. The Selection Committee may recommend the approval of up to three applications per year.
Requests for an extension must be submitted during the tenure of the sabbatical visit.
This request must include a summary of the results from the first year and plans for the extension period, as well as a cover letter and a letter of support written by the IOCB group leader.
The IOCB group leader must submit a short final report after the visiting scientist's stay has ended.
