Junior Group Leader in Virology (Joint Laboratory with the Faculty of Science, Charles University)
Job description
Faculty of Science Charles University, Department of Genetics and Microbiology, welcomes applications for a Junior Group Leader in virology with an emphasis on infectious virology.
This is a researcher position (VP2). We offer the opportunity to establish a research group that will be based in a Joint laboratory, shared by the Faculty of Science and the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry of the Czech Academy of Sciences. A generous, negotiable starting package that includes laboratory and office space, investments in the necessary equipment, consumables, and salaries for several coworkers/students.
Candidate will also have access to a fully equipped BSL3 laboratory, and projects utilizing this facility are expected to be central focus of the research.

Requirements
- Ph.D. degree in a relevant discipline, international postdoc experience in virology
- Expertise in various aspects of infectious virology
- Experience with related experimental techniques.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
- Independence, accountability, and reliability
- Communication and management skills
- Experience with student leadership

Additional information
1 January 2027 (negotiable)
The initial full-time fixed-term contract is for three years, with the expectation of extension by another two years based on an interim evaluation. After five years, a decision is made, based on a final evaluation.
