Characterization of the addition reaction between C60-fullerene and secondary amine piperidine

The joint research of the theoretical group of Pavel Hobza from IOCB Prague and experimental groups of Martin Dračínský from IOCB Prague and Radek Zbořil from Catrin, Olomouc, resulted in the characterization of the addition reaction between C60-fullerene and secondary amine piperidine.

The reaction results in the formation of the product complex with N→C dative bond in absence of oxygen, while in the oxygen atmosphere, it proceeds via the same dative bond complex to addition reaction products. These two complexes differ significantly in their electronic properties.

The paper was published in the Journal of the American Chemical Society.
